Metal disc – screw-on counterpart 17x2 mm
Code: PDSD02Product detailed description
A zinc-plated steel base 17 mm in diameter and 2 mm thick, 6 mm inner hole, weight 4 g. A screw-on metal disc counterpart for magnets and pot magnets roughly 15–17 mm across — for example neodymium cylinders D 15 and D 16 mm. The countersunk hole keeps the screw head level with the seating face for the magnet.
- Which magnets suit the 17x2 mm steel base?
Magnets and pot magnets approximately 15–17 mm in diameter, typically neodymium cylinders D 15 mm and D 16 mm.
- What screw is needed?
A countersunk screw whose shank passes through the 6 mm hole and whose conical head seats in the countersink, flush with the surface. You choose the screw to suit the substrate, and we supply it separately.
- Is this zinc-plated steel disc counterpart a magnet?
No. It is a steel part with no magnetic field of its own; the magnet is ordered separately.
- Does the metal disc counterpart have to be tightened fully?
Yes. The steel base must seat over its whole area — if the metal disc counterpart stays warped or stands proud, an air gap forms and the magnet will hold less firmly.
- How much does the 17x2 mm steel disc for magnets weigh?
4 g. The low weight is an advantage on doors, covers and light panels, where you do not want to load the structure unnecessarily.
- Can the 17 mm size also be used on metal?
Yes, though on steel it is not needed — the magnet holds directly. It makes sense on aluminium, non-magnetic grades of stainless steel, brass and other non-magnetic metals.
