Product detailed description

A zinc-plated steel base 23.7 mm in diameter and only 1.5 mm thick, 5 mm inner hole, weight 5 g. It is the thinnest metal disc counterpart in the range — it suits places with little room where the disc must not stand far above the surface. It is used with magnets and rubber-coated magnets roughly 22–24 mm across.

  1. Why is this metal disc counterpart only 1.5 mm thick?
    A thin steel base keeps the height it adds above the surface to a minimum. It is useful on doors, covers and jigs with limited clearance.
  1. Does the smaller thickness reduce the holding force?
    With strong magnets, thinner steel may close the magnetic flux less effectively than a 3 mm sheet. If you need maximum force and have the room, choose a thicker steel disc counterpart.
  1. Which magnets is the 23.7x1.5 mm size intended for?
    Magnets and rubber-coated magnets approximately 22–24 mm in diameter, for example a rubber-coated magnet D 22 mm with a centre hole.
  1. What is the inner diameter of the hole?
    5 mm, with a conical countersink for the screw head. Choose the screw so that the shank passes through and the head seats flush with the surface of the steel base.
  1. Is this a magnet?
    No. It is a steel disc counterpart — it has no magnetic field and does not work without a magnet.
  1. Is the zinc-plated finish adequate for workshop use?
    Zinc protects the steel base against ordinary surface corrosion in a dry environment. In permanently damp or chemically loaded operations we recommend protecting the joint additionally.
