A zinc-plated steel base 45 mm in diameter and 3 mm thick, 5.5 mm inner hole, weight 36 g. A robust metal disc counterpart for strong magnets roughly 43–45 mm across — for example neodymium cylinders D 45 mm or 43 mm rubber-coated magnets with an external thread. The 3 mm thickness closes the magnetic flux better than the 2 mm version.

1. When should you choose 45x3 mm rather than 45x2 mm?
   When you need the highest possible holding force. A thicker steel base closes the flux of a powerful neodymium magnet better; the 2 mm version is preferable where space is limited.
